On Saturday 17th August, a team of seven Mackenzie Construction employees took part in the WaterAid Munro Challenge, climbing Ben Vorlich.

Ben Vorlich (985 m), is a prominent mountain in the Southern Highlands of Scotland and is one of the 282 Munros (mountains) across Scotland. We decided to take on this challenge to provide awareness and raise money for projects supported by Scottish Water in Rwanda delivering clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene in communities where these are all needed.

The team that took on the challenge was made up of Danny Veitch, Thomas McGuigan, Chris Russell, Mark Wilson, Alan Montgomery, Jay Stewart and Jamie Hislop. The climb came with some difficulties due to failing weather, visibility and high winds from above 800m, however, the team conquered Ben Vorlich, to make for a successful day.

The team enjoyed the climb so much, that there are already conversations being had for which Munro they can climb next.

All money that is raised through the Munro Challenge 2024 is supporting WaterAid’s vital work in Rwanda, donate today at https://www.justgiving.com/page/mackenzie-construction-1716284274576
