Mental Health Awareness Week 2026: Taking Action at Mackenzie Construction

This week marks Mental Health Awareness Week 2026, with the theme ‘Action: for yourself, for someone else, for all of us.’

At Mackenzie Construction, we recognise that while awareness is important, meaningful progress depends on consistent, practical action. The construction industry has made positive strides in addressing mental health, but continued focus is required to prevent issues before they arise and to ensure support is accessible to all.

Given the nature of our work, where projects can be demanding and employees often spend extended periods away from home, fostering a strong sense of community is critical. We remain committed to maintaining a culture where connection, collaboration and wellbeing are embedded across the business.

We have invested in modern office environments and site facilities to create shared spaces that encourage collaboration and day-to-day interaction. These spaces support stronger working relationships and provide opportunities for informal peer support.

Throughout the year, we organise a range of company events, including charity initiatives and team gatherings, aimed at bringing colleagues together in a structured but relaxed setting. These activities support engagement across the business while reinforcing our values.

Supporting mental health remains a priority. In addition to our existing wellbeing initiatives, we have trained Mental Health First Aiders across the business who are available to provide initial support and signposting where required.

We also work closely with The Lighthouse Charity, which offers dedicated mental health support to the construction industry, including training, resources and a 24/7 confidential helpline.

Last week, we welcomed The Lighthouse Charity’s “Make It Visible” van to one of our sites. The visit provided a practical opportunity to raise awareness, share lived experiences and encourage open, constructive conversations around mental health within the workforce.

While Mental Health Awareness Week provides a useful platform, our approach is centred on sustained action throughout the year. We will continue to develop initiatives that support our people, strengthen engagement and contribute to a healthier working environment across Mackenzie Construction.
