This project comprised the reconstruction of the 12-acre site of the former Deerdykes Waste Water Treatment Works near Cumbernauld, which was decommissioned in 2002 into a composting and organics recycling facility, capable of treating a variety of organic by-products and materials such as garden refuse. The total value of the project was in the region of £980,000.

Works comprised 2500M3 of reinforced concrete hard standing, installation of new weighbridge, major earthworks, road and drainage works and major mechanical and electrical works along with small scope of building works. As well as this, demolition materials were crushed on site and used in the formation of new slabs constructed for the maturation of compost.
We were fortunate to be awarded phase 2 of the works during the first contract and which enables us to work with the client to ensure early opening of the facility.
The Deerdykes facility is the largest project of its kind in Scotland. The fact that 30,000 tonnes of green waste is now being processed each year, and already indicates the success of the project.
