      Easter Inch Infrastructure Project

This infrastructure project was an advance contract for industrial development and involved the construction of carriageway, including drainage, lighting and landscaping. Works included roundabout construction on live carriageway requiring extensive traffic management.

The soil and groundwater were extensively contaminated with hydrocarbons. Contaminated soil was identified by rigorous testing and removed to a licensed tip. Initially contaminated groundwater was tankered off site. To reduce the cost of this to the Client we introduced settling and filtration tanks to site.

The landscaping works included extensive top soiling 20000Mē, root containment, woodland planting (14200 plants), hedge rows (470M) and mature tree planting. All these works where carried out under the supervision of Ian Whyte Associates.

The bulk volume of the hydrocarbon-contaminated ground water was treated to a level acceptable by testing to Scottish Water and discharged to a local watercourse with the agreement of SEPA. The concentrated remaining water and filters were then removed to a licensed tip.
